On Thursday, June 17, 2021 President Biden declared a federal holiday for Juneteenth. Juneteenth is a celebration to commemorate the end of chattel slavery in the United States and is regularly observed with celebrations on June 19.

President Drake announced Juneteenth will be added to UC’s calendar of holidays. This year, UC will observe this holiday on Monday, June 28, 2021. Starting in 2022, UC will celebrate the Juneteenth holiday according to the federal calendar.
