Clearing the Air Student Ambassador Program
By becoming involved in the Clear the Air Program as a Student Ambassador, you become part of the effort to provide a smoke-free environment for all staff, faculty, students, employees and visitors. Be involved in your school and community, meet and engage with a variety of people, and build leadership and public speaking skills by becoming a Clearing the Air (CTA) Student Ambassador. Incentive
At the end of each quarter, Clearing the Air Ambassadors will receive Dining Dollars based on activities completed
Main Job Duties
- Increase compliance of the Smoke/Tobacco-Free policy on campus
- Promote the smoke and tobacco-free policy on the UCR campus through campus outreach, participation in campus activities, and partnerships with various campus organizations
Roles and Duties
- Attend a 30-minute AIR Training session to learn proper techniques for approaching and informing those who smoke
- Time commitment: 1 – 2 hours per week over the 10-week quarter
- Canvas the campus with a partner or on your own, visiting hot spots. Ambassadors can determine their own schedule
- Approach those seen violating the Smoke and Tobacco-free policy, which includes the use of cigarettes, smokeless tobacco, and e-cigarettes/vaping - review the Tips for Using UCR Smoke Tobacco-Free Suggested Scripts.
- Educate the campus community about the policy and encouraging a culture of compliance. Provide cessation and support resources to smokers and tobacco users
- Track experiences/outcomes
- Attend meetings to discuss upcoming events and progress/improvements
- Table at nooners and/or events twice a month to promote the policy and recruit additional Ambassadors
