The 2018 Health Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Carryover funds have been credited to participants’ WageWorks accounts.

As a general rule, as long as a participant has a minimum of $25 of Health FSA funds left over from a plan year, up to $500 will be carried over to the following year. Unused funds greater than $500 will be forfeited. Employees will continue to have access to the carryover amount in the next plan year, regardless of whether the employee elects to re-enroll and contribute to the Health Flexible Spending Account (FSA) again in the subsequent plan year. Employees may only carry over funds for one plan year.

Any debit cards that have been deactivated due to unsubstantiated card transactions associated with the 2018 Plan Year are being reactivated for use on 2019 expenses.

As a reminder, participants have until December 31, 2019 to incur eligible expenses for the 2019 plan year. The plan’s deadline to file claims for expenses incurred during the 2019 plan year is April 15, 2020. After the April 15 deadline, unused funds up to $500 will carry over to the 2020 plan year and be available for reimbursement in early May.
