 The Employee and Labor Relations Office Provides assistance and advice to UCR managers and supervisors in the following areas:

  • Performance management/counseling.
  • Disciplinary actions, dismissals, release during probation, layoffs and separation of employees for medical reasons.
  • Administration and interpretation of collective bargaining agreements and relevant personnel policies.
  • Represents management in employee disputes/grievance proceedings.
  • Mediates/negotiates resolutions of complaints with employee representatives.
  • Assists UC Path in the administration of the unemployment insurance program.
  • Responds to union information requests.

Employee & Labor Relations New Hires & Client Assignments

The Employee and Labor Relations (ELR) department is pleased to welcome Karen Logue and Michael Dueñas to the ELR team.

Karen Ann Logue, Principal Employee & Labor Relations Analyst, has over 22 years of Human Resources experience in the private and public sectors, and higher education. Karen graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS in business administration and obtained a MBA in Human Resources. Karen is a Society of Human Resources – Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute. Having spent the majority of her career in higher education, Karen is looking forward to working with others and developing successful workplace relationships at UCR.

Michael Dueñas, Principal Employee & Labor Relations Analyst, has several years of experience representing employees and served in the Peace Corps as a volunteer working with underserved communities in South America. Michael is a graduate of UCR with a BA in History and Chicano Studies and a juris doctor (JD).  He is excited to be returning to a place he considers home, UC Riverside. Michael is eager to share his experience and training to help UCR continue achieving greatness.
