Wellness Ambassadors
Wellness Ambassadors play a vital role in supporting the promotion of health and well-being among UCR faculty and staff. Wellness Ambassadors serve as UCR’s key communicators of the Healthy Campus and Faculty and Staff Wellness Program, helping to direct employees to wellness programs, activities and resources. Diabetes Prevention Program
The Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) is a 1-year lifestyle change program based on research led by the National Institutes of Health.  DPP is designed for non-diabetic, overweight individuals ages 18 and older who have pre-diabetes or are at risk for type 2 diabetes.  This program provides education, encouragement, and the tools necessary to help individuals reach their health goals. MobileFit
Bringing Fitness To You

Mobile Fit is available for all faculty and staff who are interested in participating in a convenient on-site fitness program to improve overall health and wellness. To learn more about this program, please visit the MobileFit website.

Go! Physical Activity
Track your physical activity minutes or steps and earn prizes as you move your way to a healthier you! All UCR faculty, staff, and students are eligible to join and earn milestone rewards. For more information, please visit the Go! UCR Activity Tracking Program website.

Activities

Relaxation and Meditative Yoga

Diane Del Buono, Associate of the Chancellor, will lead gentle yoga poses where a chair replaces the yoga mat. The chair becomes an extension of your body allowing you to take full advantage of yoga’s fitness and health benefits all while wearing comfortable work clothes. Annual UC Walks

UC Walks is a systemwide event to promote an active lifestyle among UCR faculty, staff and students. Lace up your sneakers and join us for fun activities, socialize with your colleagues, and get some fresh air ‒ last year over 450 walkers participated!

Walk and Talk with Leadership

Come join Kathryn Uhrich, Dean of College of Natural & Agricultural Sciences (CNAS) & Professor of Chemistry, for some fresh air and a short walk on our beautiful campus.

What is it
  • A monthly 30-minute “walk and talk”
  • A healthy opportunity for faculty, staff and students to meet the leader along with fellow walkers, ask questions or just enjoy the exercise.
When is it
  • October 23 – Kathryn Uhrich, Dean, CNAS
  • November 13 – Louise Rodriguez, Interim Dean, GSOE
  • December 5 – Norm Ellstrand, Distinguished Professor of Genetics & Geneticist

Healthy Holiday Challenge

The Healthy Holiday Challenge encourage employees to practice healthy behaviors during the holidays that will promote weight maintenance rather than weight gain. Tips and strategies to eat healthy, move more, and manage stress will be provided.
