Recent UCOP and UCR HR Policy Updates
- Effective July 1, 2021, employees who qualify for Pay for Family Care and Bonding (PFCB) can receive 70% of their eligible earnings for up to eight workweeks per calendar year. To qualify, the FML leave must be taken in a block of one workweek or more, for any of the following purposes: Care for a family member with a serious health condition; Bonding with a new child; Military Caregiver Leave; and Qualifying Exigency Leave. - Effective July 1, 2021, UC's Adoption Assistance Plan, administered by WEX Health, provides financial support through reimbursement of up to $5,000 of eligible expenses per adoption. - On March 23, 2021, UCOP released a revised version of PPSM 2.210: Absence from Work policy. The revisions include technical and clarifying edits, for compliance with the new legal requirements of CFRA, effective January 1, 2021, and corresponding updates to FML implementation parameters.
- On February 5, 2021, UCOP released a communication which outlines UC President Drake's approved temporary changes regarding temporary layoff and temporary reduction in time under PPSM-60 (Layoff and Reduction in Time from Professional & Support Staff Career Positions) due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
- On January 22, 2021, UCOP released a revision to PPSM-2: Definition of Terms. The revisions removed redundant language, updated formatting and made typographical amendments.
- On January 22, 2021, UCOP released a revision to UC Policy CANRA - Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect, which expanded the definition of Mandated Reporters to include certain human resources employees (including academic personnel staff or other such location employees who are charged with handling discrimination complaints as defined by CANRA), and adults who supervise minor employees.
- June 2020 the Local Procedure 20 on Recruitment and Promotion was revised to provide guidance to the campus on the revised limitation on limited appointments and request form for limited appointments that may exceed 700 hours in a consecutive 12-month period.
- May 2020 the Local Procedure 2.210 on Maximum Vacation Accrual was revised to provide guidance to the campus on the revised business process to request to exceed maximum vacation accrual limits.

UCR Policies and Procedures
In accordance with UCR Campus Policy Number: 350-11, HR will utilize HR News and ScotMemos to communicate proposed new policies and changes to existing University of California, Office of the President (UCOP) and University of California, Riverside (UCR) policies. Proposed and actual changes will also be posted on the Human Resources (HR) website.
