UCR COVID-19 Employee Emergency Fund

Emergency Fund Update - March 3, 2021

COVID-19 is inflicting great medical and financial harm on individuals and communities. One way UCR has offered support during this crisis is through the UCR COVID-19 Employee Emergency Fund. From October 2020 through February 2021, $382,841.53 was raised and awarded to UCR employees through this fund. Eligible employees solicited funds of up to $1,000 for a critical, temporary and unforeseen financial hardship due to COVID-19. These financial grants do not need to be repaid and are not taxable as income as “qualified disaster relief payments” under 26 U.S. Code § 139, as COVID-19 is a “federally declared disaster” issued by the President of the United States.

Applications for the program have now closed as all funds have been exhausted. We will keep the campus community updated if additional resources become available for additional COVID-19 relief support.

For Riverside County residents, further resources for assistance during this time are available Riverside County Workforce Development website - https://rivcoworkforce.com/COVID-19Resources.aspx.

Additional information specifically for UCR staff is available at the UCR Staff Assembly Emergency Assistance for Staff website -  https://staffassembly.ucr.edu/emergency-assistance-staff.
