 Open Enrollment ends on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 5:00 p.m.

All current UC medical plans will be available in 2019, with a new name for Health Net Blue & Gold. UC employees continue to have a broad choice of plan designs and providers — including UC medical center doctors, hospitals and medical groups — to fit their needs. UC continues to cover most of the cost of the premiums. You'll find more information about your options on each plan's page. What's New for 2019

There are a few significant changes this year, including new benefits eligibility rules for domestic partners and a new name and behavioral health administrator for Blue & Gold.

Enrollment through UCPath Online System

New this year is making open enrollment benefit elections and/or changes on the UCPath Online System.

UCR Health
2019 Open Enrollment

During open enrollment, consider the advantages of selecting UCR Health as your partner for care.

UCR Health is a team of physicians, specialists and healthcare professionals dedicated to improving the health of you and your family. They are the clinical enterprise of the UC Riverside School of Medicine, so you can be confident that you are receiving the highest-quality care. UCR Health contracts with most health plans, including UC Blue & Gold HMO (Health Net). Please visit the UC Open Enrollment website for more information.

Pet
Insurance

New! UC is offering a new option for your family — preferred pricing on pet insurance through Nationwide. Nationwide has two benefit options designed for the pets of UC faculty and staff — coverage for accidents and illness or more comprehensive coverage that also includes preventive care and wellness services. Learn more

Domestic Partners

New! UC will offer access to health and welfare benefits based on the same eligibility criteria for all domestic partners. For more information about eligibility, please view the Domestic Partner Eligibility FAQs or visit the UC Open Enrollment website.

Health

New! Behavioral Health services including counseling and substance abuse coverage.

Core

A high-deductible catastrophic plan. The administrator of your plan processes claims, creates a network of health care providers or pharmacies and sets clinical policies and guidelines.

Plan Changes

There are few changes to the Core plan for next year. There are no changes to the Core plan deductible, coinsurance or annual out-of-pocket limits. Learn more

Health Net Blue & Gold

Health Net Blue & Gold is an HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) with a custom network of providers created exclusively for UC. The Blue & Gold network includes over 240 hospitals, 9,400 PCPs and 25,000 specialists, and all UC Medical Centers and medical groups.

Plan Changes

Health Net Blue & Gold HMO is getting a new name in 2019 — UC Blue & Gold HMO. Health Net will continue to administer medical benefits for the plan. Learn more

Kaiser Permanente California

Kaiser is an HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) with a closed network of providers.

  • You choose a primary care physician (PCP) from Kaiser’s network.
  • The PCP coordinates your care and refers you to specialists.
Plan Changes

Changes to how a pharmacists dispenses prescriptions for Schedule II controlled substances as well as the use of medically necessary durable medical equipment after being discharged from a hospital or after an urgent care episode. Learn more

UC Care

UC Care is a PPO plan created just for UC. You can get care from most UC physicians and medical centers as well as the Anthem Preferred network of providers — the choice is yours. You also have coverage for out-of-network providers.

There are few changes to UC Care for next year. There are no changes to the UC Care plan deductible, coinsurance, copayments or annual out-of-pocket limits. Learn more

UC Health Savings Plan

The UC Health Savings Plan (HSP) is a high-deductible PPO (preferred provider organization) paired with a health savings account (HSA), a federal tax-free account maintained by HealthEquity, to help pay your out-of-pocket costs.

There are few changes to the UC Health Savings Plan for next year. There are no changes to the UC Health Savings Plan deductible, coinsurance or annual out-of-pocket limits. Learn more

Flexible Spending Accounts

Open Enrollment is the time for employees to enroll or re-enroll in an FSA if you want to continue the plan in 2019. To participate, you must contribute a minimum of $180 per year. An FSA allows you to pay for eligible expenses on a pretax basis. As a result, your salary is reduced before taxes are assessed, and you pay less in taxes. Learn more

Medical Plan Rates

You and UC share the costs of your medical plan premium; UC contributes up to 100 percent of the cost, depending on the plan and the coverage you choose, as well as your Medical Contribution Base (MCB), which is based on your full-time salary rate as of January 1, 2018. Learn more

ARAG Legal Plan

ARAG Legal Insurance gives you access to basic, personal legal help. The plan provides online, over-the-phone or in-person access and covers specific legal services. These services are provided through ARAG at an annual cost much less than the average attorney rate for an hour in California.

Plan Changes

Trust services will be a standalone, paid-in-full benefit, separated from general in-office services, which will be reduced from eight to four hours. Divorce coverage will be capped at 25 hours to improve access to network attorneys. Learn more

The Human Resources Benefits Office will be hosting a Benefits Fair featuring representatives from various benefits vendors. This is your opportunity to ask questions and receive Open Enrollment Information. All faculty and staff members interested in learning more about the 2019 UC benefits and Open Enrollment are invited to attend.

  • UC Health will be hosting a Flu Shot Clinic during the Open Enrollment Benefits Fair. Flu shots will be offered at no cost on a limited first-come, first-serve basis.
  • Free! Health Screening for glucose, blood pressure, glaucoma, Weight BMI and massages

Open Enrollment Vendor Workshops

Thursday, October 25, 2018 | 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. | HUB 302

Please join us for this year's Open Enrollment Vendor Workshops. During the workshops, you will be provided with information regarding medical plans, preventative care and wellness, and how to navigate through the UCPath portal.
