Resources for Staff and Faculty

UC is committed to providing a tobacco-free environment. To support the Smoke and Tobacco-Free Policy and help those who want to quit smoking, the university offers a number of resources for faculty and staff. For more information, visit the Tobacco-Cessation Resources at UCnet.

All UC-sponsored medical plans provide the following:

  • Prescription nicotine replacement therapies, such as nicotine inhalers, sprays and medications, at no additional cost when prescribed by a physician.
  • Over-the-counter nicotine replacement products are available, at no cost when prescribed by a physician.
  • You can participate in behavioral modification programs to help you quit smoking, but it is not required to receive these benefits.

Many of UC's system wide benefits program offer services to members to help them quit. Learn more about what available through UC's health benefits providers.
Faculty Staff & Assistance Program
This Faculty Staff & Assistance Program (FSAP) is free and confidential service provides assessment, counseling and stress management services to UC employees seeking to quit smoking.

    Help Clear the Air

    Become involved in your school and community, meet and engage with a variety of people, and build leadership and public speaking skills by becoming a Clearing the Air (CTA) Student Ambassador! For more information, please visit the Clear the Air Student Ambassador webpage.

    Student Health Services
    • To speak with a provider about getting a prescription for tobacco cessation products, please call the UCR Student Health Center at (951) 827-3031.
    • Tobacco cessation resources are available to students through the UC Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP).
    The WELL
    Visit The Well (HUB 248) to find tobacco cessation information, "Quit Kits" and other stress relief items, or if you to talk to a peer or professional health educator about quitting smoking or getting connected to additional resources.

      Resources for Everyone

      California Smoker's

      The California Smokers' Helpline is a telephone program that can help you quit smoking. Helpline services are free, funded by the California Department of Public Health and by First 5 California. The helpline has been in operation since 1992. Every month, thousands of Californians call and receive help. Call 1-800 NO BUTTS.
